Fees
Our fees are structured so that your pregnancy care with us is both affordable and predictable.
Affordable
We can confidently say that you can have your baby privately with Dr Sykes as your obstetrician in the knowledge that your personal out-of-pocket payment to Dr Sykes will be kept to the minimum.
If you fee shop around, it can be hard to compare one obstetrician's fees with another. You need to ask about the gap (your 'out-of-pocket' expenses after Medicare and health fund reimbursement) on antenatal visits, delivery and postnatal care.
If you compare, you will be delighted with our fees. Please phone us to find out more.
Our experience shows that when you are managed by Dr Sykes, your 'out-of-pocket' costs will be less than those charged by the majority of other obstetricians at the Sydney Adventist or Norwest Private hospitals.
If you are not in a health fund, but are covered by Medicare, we can still offer you an affordable package for Dr Sykes services. Just phone us at anytime.
If you are from overseas and are not covered by Medicare we will tailor a fee package according to your circumstances. This will take into consideration whether you are covered by an overseas health fund.
Predictable
At you first antenatal visit we will explain about our fees and their payment in detail. You will know exactly how much you will be 'out of pocket' to us as our patient. You can financially plan for your pregnancy care. We are very sensitive to all the financial pressures that are present at this stage of your life and the financial impact of Federal Government's withdrawal of the Medicare Safety Net support for pregnancy in January 2010.
We offer all patients a
payment plan option to you can spread out of pocket costs throughout your pregnancy.
Please advise us if you have any special personal financial considerations. This is so we can work out a special fee consideration.
Our goal is for you to have an enjoyable and safe pregnancy and birth experience and to not have financial pressures be distraction from this. Our goal is that financial constraints should not prevent you allowing us to help you achieve an optimal experience and outcome.
Minimal Patient Inconvenience
Because we have electronic claiming facilities, you will never have to stand in a queue at a Medicare or health fund office for any accounts generated by this practice. We take care of all this for you automatically.
As well we have
gap cover arrangements with health funds. This means we bill your fund directly for your delivery and postnatal care in hospital. This service will save you money and time.
Other Fees
When having your baby there will be accounts also from the hospital, other doctors who may be involved in your care (such as paediatrician, anaesthetist, surgical assistant - if required), and pathology services. As these
doctor charges are incurred while "in hospital" you are entitled to part reimbursement through both Medicare and your health fund . Your health fund will pay for all or part of your hospital bill, depending on your level of cover. Medicare does not contribute payment towards your hospital bill.
"Pre first consultation" visit
If you would like to book a
"pre first consultation" visit with us please give a call. There will be
no charge for this visit.
This visit would be so you can meet us and we can face-to
face-discuss fees and other considerations. We can work our with you a
fee payment plan and any other special fee considerations. We can also
discuss an overview of your anticipated pregnancy care and any special
considerations and requests you may have in this regard.
