Postnatal Visit

You should book this visit about six weeks after your confinement. My secretary will usually arrange this with you towards the end of your antenatal period.

At this visit I will want to discuss with you any special considerations of your recent pregnancy, labour or childbirth. This is especially with consideration of next time. Your input is requested. If you have any questions or concerns about any aspect of your care, from me, other doctors or the hospital staff please let us know.

Also please let us know any special compliments and we will be very pleased to pass them on, at your postnatal visit your medical status will be assessed, any medical issues will be addressed and personalised contraception advice will be given. There will be a pelvic examination and a Pap smear taken if this is due.

If you have any concerns after discharge from hospital but before you postnatal visit then please contact us.

Your baby will need to be checked by your paediatrician about the same time.
