Why are my gums bleeding?

In pregnancy there is increased blood flow in mucous membranes, including the gums around your teeth. Also you are more prone to dental caries and a build up of plaque around your teeth. This results in your gums tending to bleed more. 

What can be done?

Have a dental check up if due. Include a dental clean and polish with removal of plaque. Also make sure you brush and floss your teeth daily.
