Below is a link to very informative video clip about the work of the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia. I have been a Director of the Australian Trust of the Hospital for decades.
Drs Reg and Catherine Hamlin started the Hospital to help Ethiopian woman who suffered severe childbirth trauma.
It is upsetting when I hear or read about people in Australia advocating against current pregnancy and childbirth management in Australia. I just need to look at what happens in the villages in Ethiopia when there is no pregnancy and childbirth care available and how there can be devastating consequences for mother and/or baby.
We are so fortunate in Australia to have our healthcare system. No matter whether private or public care a woman will receive much better care here than in Ethiopia and in many other countries around the world.
