Bleeding Gums in Pregnancy

Why are my gums bleeding?

In pregnancy there is increased blood flow in mucous membranes, including the gums around your teeth.

As well in pregnancy you are more prone to dental caries and a build up of plaque around your teeth.

These factors result in your gums tending to bleed more.

What can be done?

Have a dental checkup if due. Include a dental clean and polish with removal of plaque.

Also, make sure you brush and floss your teeth daily.
