Pregnancy care checklist
We are often asked about ‘what happens when’ with pregnancy care. With that question on mind I have put together the table below as a guide.
8 Weeks | First visit with me for most patients I will give you a referral for routine pregnancy tests, NIPT Screening (if requested) and booking information for a hospital. |
8-12 Weeks | Routine blood tests done NIPT Screening for Down Syndrome done (done at 10 weeks on) Book into hospital |
19-20 Weeks | Baby’s morphology ultrasound scan |
20 Weeks | Pregnancy management fee paid |
26-28 Weeks | Routine pregnancy tests including for diabetes |
28-32 Weeks | Best time for whooping cough vaccination done through your GP |
39 Weeks | Internal examination to check if your cervix is getting ready. Discussion about how long to go overdue |
6 Weeks After Delivery | Postnatal check |
Antenatal visit frequency
We are also asked about the frequency of antenatal visits. In the table below is summarised the usual frequency of visits. There will be variations if there are pregnancy complications that warrant more frequent visits throughout the pregnancy. As well an extra visit may be needed if there is a pregnancy development or concern between routine visits (such as bleeding).
8-26 Weeks | Usually each 5 weeks |
